Livestock-Based Farming Systems, Renewable Resources and the Environment
A trial on semi-intensive of Poly fish culture used Bioslurry and fresh pig manure with commercial pellet feed was conducted for a period of 6 months (from January to July of 2011) at Dinh Bang Aquaculture Cooperation under funding of Biogas program. The trial was completely randomized design with 8 earthen ponds (20m x 50-55m x 1.5m) (4 treatments and 2 replicates). Treatments were: bioslurry applied to pond surface (BPS), bioslurry mixed with with feed (BPF), fresh pig manure added to pond (PM) and no fertilizer (CTL) at stocking density of 2 fish/m2 (including Silver carp, Grass carp, Indian carp, Common carp, Black carp, Bighead carp and Tilapia in proportions of 10; 15; 10; 10; 5 and 40%). Fish in all treatments were fed twice a day at 9AM and 4PM with 26% protein pellets at rate of 3-7% fish body weight per day. The specific growth rate of each fish species was higher (Figure 1) when the pelleted feed was combined with bioslurry (by direct application to the pond or mixed method).
